Albanian (historically known as Arbëresh) uses the Latin alphabet and represents a distinct branch of the Indo-European language family. It is spoken by approximately 15–25 million people worldwide. The Albanian vocabulary contains borrowings from Ancient Greek, as well as from Latin and other South Slavic languages, Greek and Turkish, and also from Italian, French, and various other world languages.
